When death comes, it chooses without discriminating. Popular or common, all of us are mortals and fated to meet the ultimate goal of our life, which is death. There are some people who are legends, popular, and who have achieved what no other could ever do after them, but the sudden end of their lives were tragedies. History witnessed politician being assassinated, music icons shot dead by fans, legendary entertainers dying of drug overdose, accidents, and suicides. Tragedy of these lives left behind fans crying and world mourning over their loss. To list them in order of the fame of their tragedies and relevance to the world, here are 10 most tragic deaths ever.
10.Brandon Bruce Lee (1965 
– March 31, 1993):
Life of a legend among martial artists, Bruce Lee, ended in a sort of tragedy before his age. However, what if you are told that his son, Brandon Lee, who was an American actor as well as a martial artist, was accidentally shot on movie set and died while performing. That's true; Lee was shooting for "The Crow" on March 31, 1993 when a fellow actor accidentally fired a bullet at him. It was his first starring role after a struggle in the industry. He missed the success of his career in such a wasteful manner.
9. Michael Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009):
Guinness World Record put MJ, as the most dazzling and successful entertainer of all time. The world calls him the "King of Pop". His fan base, like that of Lennon, was hysterical about him. His fans knew nothing, but one God, and it was MJ for them. He gave name to some of the very difficult popular dance styles such as 'robot and moonwalk'. He was twice inducted into the "Dance Hall of Fame", and one of the very few to get a place into "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame". He ended his life due to overdose of benzodiazepine intoxication, giving the world another name in the list of famous celebrities who died of drug overdose.
8. Marilyn Monroe (June 1, 1926 – August 5, 1962):
Perhaps, Monroe was the biggest 'sex symbol' during 1950s and 1960s. She was titled as the "Film's Sexiest Women of All Time", and was even ranked as the 'sixth-greatest female star' of all time by the American Film Institute. This American model rose to heights of fame for her insane beauty and sex appeal. All this ended in a miserable death due to an overdose of barbiturates or anti-depressants. Some even sighted the probability of a suicide in the death of the diva.
7. Princess Diana (1 July 1961 – 31 August 1997):
Fourth Child of 8th Earl Spencer, Diana came from a royal ancestry and later the world knew her as the "Queen of Wales". After marriage to Prince Charles, she became extremely popular as a celebrity as well as due to her fund raising and huge charities for global causes. A great credit goes to Diana for supporting well known "International Campaign to Ban Landmines". Now, as we have her name in this list, we know that she ended in a tragedy after all this. Her fans all over the world mourned and cried after the news of her death in a car crash came on 31 August 1997.
6. Elvis Presley (January 8, 1935 –August 16, 1977)
Talking of the most popular musicians of 20th century and no one can exclude this name. He is still known as "King of Rock and Roll", an American singer, who earned the prestige of being a cultural icon, and holds the record of being best selling solo artist in book of popular music. He got "Grammy Lifetime Achievement", but died due to drug prescription abuse at the age of 42 years.
5. John Lennon (9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980):
Ranked eighth by BBC poll for "100 greatest Britons", rated fifth greatest singer of all time by 'Rolling Stone', and founder of the "Beatles", this guy is a legend among the English musicians. He is known for his acerbic nature reflected in his songs, writings, interviews and his personal life. He enjoyed hysterical fan base, and by the end of 2012, sale off his solo albums reached a huge figure of 14 million. He was shot dead by one of his fan on 8 December 1980. That's right, one of his fan shot him four times on his back. What would you call it; irony of life or an odd tragedy?
4. Martin Luther King Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968):
A Nobel Peace Prize winner for fighting against racial inequality, King stands as an icon in the history of America today. He led the great African-American Civil Rights Movement, and if you know about him, then you surely know what he meant for this movement. He is considered one of most influential characters in US history for his nonviolent leadership throughout the civil rights. His speech in 1963, known as "I Have a Dream" earned him a reputation of being one of the greatest orators in US history. But this peaceful man ended in tragedy with his assassination in April 1968 under a political conspiracy.
3.John F. Kennedy (May 29, 1917 – November 22, 1963):
Youngest man to be elected as the President of United States, JFK shares his fame with Lincoln for how he led his country through modern day crisis, resolved African-American Civil Right Movement, and of course, the space race with USSR for supremacy in exploring the space. Despite his huge personal and public achievements, his death came as a tragedy when he was assassinated on November 22, 1963. Some say, he fell victim to a political conspiracy.
2. Mahatma Gandhi (2 October 1869 – 30 January 1948):
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, also known as Mahatma Gandhi, this man earned a place of legend in Indian struggle for Independence. The world wondered the way this man turned the British Empire into nothing, that too, without ever lifting even a stick for violence. He endured beating and torture at the hands of the British and led India to freedom. Not only as a leader, but also as an individual, the life of Gandhi and his "Experiments with Truth", are subject of research for scholars from all around the world. However, this man could not eat the fruit of his own crop, and was assassinated by Nathuram Godse on 30 January 1948, summing one more in the history of tragic deaths.
1. Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809 – April 15, 1865):
Ranked by scholars as well as public as the greatest US Presidents ever, this man rowed United States through great crisis such as the American Civil War, slave culture, economical struggle. He rose from an extremely poor family to become the 16th president of US. He still stands as an icon of a self-educated and intellectually enlightened being. The struggle of his life saw fruits with his win in the elections, but he could not live long enough to enjoy them, and was assassinated in April 1865.
