Balinese religion itself is unique - a special kind of Hinduism, composed of an alloy of Paganism, Buddhism and the teachings of Lord Shiva, who came from India.
Each morning begins with a small offering to the gods, and when to get up early, it can be seen as a saleswoman gently places it on the sidewalk in front of his shop, or any taxi driver - right on the roof of the car. This is done to attract good luck in business, with a prayer in which the gods of the thank you in advance has not lived through the bottom.
Sami offerings may consist of anything - there is no strict rule on their composition. And here, too, the number of values does not matter - according to the Balinese, the main thing - to show the gods that you remember about them and their impact on your life.
The number of temples on the island is also impressive - about 20 thousand churches - and once again proves the high religiosity of the population. Each temple has its own holiday, the day when the gods presented with special honors.
These celebrations can last from 3 days to a week, and people begin to prepare for it beforehand, decorating the streets and the temple itself whimsical designs.
These ornaments are called penjor - it is a pole of bamboo, which is decorated with curls of the young palm leaves at the top and hang a decorative pendant. This decoration symbolizes the dragon.
At pervvy think pendzhory all look the same, but the locals even organize a competition whose pendzhor very-very.
The island has 230 (!) Official holidays of the year. Therefore, numerous ceremonies and public processions can be seen on the streets of towns and villages almost every day.
At the beginning of the rite is lighting gifts. Then, to rhythmic music the whole procession goes to the cars.
Especially dazzling women carrying baskets on their heads high, laden with all sorts of fruit and flowers.
Many times we have seen a string of trucks full of smart people in traditional dress, with offerings, clearly departing for the ceremony. Trucks traveling to the music, slowly, thus creating a large traffic jams on the narrow roads of Bali.
But one day we were lucky enough to actually see the whole procession was directed. In the main venue of the ceremony, the sea has gathered hundreds of people. All brought gifts to the gods, played on various instruments, noise and dancing.
These activities are conducted primarily for the entertainment of the gods themselves, rather than local residents.
Religious beliefs become part of Balinese life. No one doubts the existence of various deities, in fact, that at night they were watching us, and their statues in the temples come alive, that they do not care what kind of life you lead.
Therefore, residents of this wonderful island trying to live a righteous life, every day except for a magical gift.
