Library Slumdog
Remember, I wrote about how the Government of Colombia has decided to fight crime in the slums. In the poorest neighborhoods have begun to build sports facilities, pedestrian areas, theaters and libraries. The results are great - now teenagers, instead of selling drugs and engage in looting, sitting on the Internet, read books and do other things plausible. Of course, crime is not gone, but for the first time in decades, the slums became possible to go without a platoon of special forces. Today I will show you some library projects that are being built.
Let's start with the library in Santo Domingo. This building was designed by architect Giancarlo Madzanti. Library like 3 huge rock on top of a hill covered with slums. By the way, in order to build the library had to be relocated 146 houses. Can you imagine what the building density here ;).

02. «Biblioteca Parque España» (this is the official name of the facility) opened on 24 March 2007. On that day, at the opening was attended by not only the President of Colombia, Alvaro Uribe Velez (Alvaro Uribe Vélez), and the King of Spain Juan Carlos I, and his wife Sophia.

20. Unfortunately, the quality of construction is not very good. In many places, the ceiling began to collapse, because the roof is leaking. A building only 5 years.

That's a crucial problem of slums. I think these here modern libraries, and clubs are lacking here. Perhaps then the youth would be less drinking beer on the entrances, and engaged in business. But we have only a program and plans to build a "temple walking distance." Libraries and cultural centers of walking are not concerned, apparently.
