RG2011... IDTC 2012/13, Phase 1, Session 3 : INDIAN RELIGIONS

As Salamu a'laikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

We pray that you are in the best of health and emaan…

ISLAMIC PROPAGATION SOCIETY INTERNATIONAL presents

Intensive Da'wah Training Course 2012/13
(Phase 1, Session 3)

"Getting to Know the Indian Religions : Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism"

'Behold, Luqman said to his son, admonishing him, "O my son! Join not in worship (others) with Allah : for false worship is indeed the highest wrong-doing" (Qur'an 31:13)

The Indian Hindu community comprises one of the major ethnic components in Malaysia. The impact and influence of Hindu culture and beliefs can be traced way back centuries ago - even before the founding of Malacca by Parameswara, who was a Hindu prince. Even today, many aspects of Hindu culture and beliefs continue to permeate the Malay language, customs and traditions.

As their larger Muslim neighbor in Malaysia, why do we really know about them and the religion they profess? What do we know of their theology, sacred scripture, rituals, eschatology, acts of worship, religious symbolism, sects and holy days? What is the difference between Hinduism, Jainism and Sikhism?

Importantly, what efforts have we taken to reach out to them? If Islam is meant for all, isn't it our obligation to invite them to embrace this true faith? But how could we hope to discharge that obligation with any success and confidence unless we first make an effort to understand their religion?

In sha' allah, by the end of this 2-day session, you will understand everything you need to know on this interesting and pertinent subject.
