When it's time to shut them in the kitchen for the night or apply the dreaded flea medicine, cats can have an uncanny knack of disappearing from view.

These moggies show the extreme measures taken to avoid detection…. although their hiding skills appear to require a little work.

One cat, peering nervously through a slit, is all too visible after sliding inside a see-through box – while another is effectively concealed but must surely be a little chilly at the back of a fridge.

A moggy hidden in a pool table pocket will have to hope their owner is a poor shot. And the cat secreted behind the kitchen cupboards has undone its good work by poking its head out to check if the coast is clear.

'Exploring is part of cats' fundamental nature,' said feline expert Vicky Halls. The photos were posted on website The Chive.

'Pregnant' boy, 2, gives birth to his own parasitic twin

1005

Doctors in China were left stunned after discovering a two-year-old boy was carrying an undeveloped foetus inside his stomach.

Xiao Feng had to undergo an operation to 'give birth' to his own parasitic twin after doctors in Huaxi discovered the foetus.

The child was rushed to the operating room after arriving at hospital with a severely bloated stomach, according to The Inquisitr.

Doctors say the foetus took up two thirds of Xiao's stomach, resulting in breathing difficulties for the child.

The unborn foetus measured 20cm in width and had also formed a spine and limbs, as well as fingers and toes.

Experts believe that the parasitic twin would have killed Xiao if it had been left untreated.

Identical twins are formed when an egg splits in half after fertilisation, but conjoined twins are formed when it fails to fully separate.

Conjoined twins can survive as 'parasites' but not when one is absorbed into the other twin.

World's first 'baby factory': Inside India's home for surrogate mothers

The world's first 'baby factory' will house hundreds of surrogate mothers as they carry infants to term for couples in the West.

The multi-million-pound complex – which will have a gift shop and hotel rooms for people coming to collect newborns – is being built in India by controversial doctor Nayna Patel.

One floor will be home to the surrogates, who make babies for a fee as a way of escaping extreme poverty.

They will be impregnated using sperm and embryos sent by courier, with childless couples often visiting India only to pick up their new son or daughter.

Dr Patel – who has a back street clinic that puts up 100 surrogates in a single house – has faced death threats from people who accuse her of exploiting the poor for profit. But she views her work as a 'feminist mission' to bring needy women together with would-be mothers who are unable to conceive.

'These woman are doing a job,' she said. 'It's a physical job. They are paid for that job.

'These women know there is no gain without pain. I definitely see myself as a feminist. Surrogacy is one woman helping another.'

The doctor – whose expansion plans were revealed in a BBC4 documentary – pays surrogates £4,950 and takes £28,000 from childless couples.

She has delivered nearly 600 babies for her wealthy clients in the decade the programme has been running in rural Gujarat. A British doctor named as Michael, 62, spoke to the BBC after going to the clinic with Russian wife Veronica, 33, who is infertile.

'Procedures are sterile and it's no different to what I'm used to in the Western world,' he said.

Surrogate Papiya is expecting twins for a US couple and plans to buy a house. 'Having twins means we get a bigger fee,' she said. 'Last time I was a surrogate I bought white goods, a car and lent some to my sister-in-law.'

Many teenagers prefer crisps, chocolate and energy drinks to traditional breakfast

Teenagers are skipping traditional breakfasts and are instead gorging on snacks including crisps, chocolate and energy drinks, a poll suggests.

Around one in seven youngsters aged 12 to 18 starts their day with a bag of crisps and 14 per cent eat chocolate bars and sweets first thing in the morning.

And five per cent of teens replace their morning meal with an energy drink, according to a poll commissioned on behalf of the Make Mine Milk campaign and the charity BeatBullying.

Two in every five of the 2,000 UK teens questioned admitted skipping breakfast altogether.

The Make Mine Milk campaign said breakfast clubs in schools should be 'standard practice' across the country so children can fill up on nutritious food before starting their day.

Brian Lightman, general secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders, said pupils breakfasting on energy drinks, which are not usually recommended for children, was something he had seen as a headteacher.

'When children arrive in schools having started the day eating or drinking totally inappropriate things like that, they are in no fit state to be in the classroom.

'They can be hyperactive, and it can have a very negative effect on their behaviour.'

Supporting the campaign, Baroness Grey-Thompson said: 'As a former athlete and mum to an 11-year-old daughter, I know just how important a healthy diet is.

'You are what you eat and that all starts every morning with a well-balanced breakfast.

'I've seen some schools successfully set up breakfast clubs to help combat the problem of teenagers not eating properly. It would be great if this could be standard practice across the country.'

Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud strikes hand Gunners a straightforward win over Napoli

Early goals from Mesut Ozil – his first for the club – and Olivier Giroud – set Arsenal on course for an easy 2-0 victory over Napoli in the Champions League.

Arsene Wenger's men turned the game into a training session and could have added more goals as they dominated from start to finish at the Emirates Stadium.

Germany midfielder Ozil got the first after just eight minutes, making it look so easy as he finished Aaron Ramsey's cutback in style to steer the ball past on-loan Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Reina.

The goal handed the home side the perfect start as they look to follow up their opening-day Group F win in Marseille.

And their superiority was underlined when Giroud doubled the Gunners' advantage seven minutes later with a close-range finish to leave Napoli's former Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez looking forlorn on the touchline.

After that fast start, Arsenal looked to add to their tally but the Italians belatedly tightened up at the back and it remained 2-0 at the break.

The Gunners toyed with their visitors but just couldn't find a way through for the killer third goal, introducing Jack Wilshere for the last half an hour in place of Tomas Rosicky.

The nearest they came to a third was when Laurent Koscielny met Mikel Arteta's flick-on but was denied by a point-blank save from Reina 15 minutes from time.

Earlier, Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky had returned to the Arsenal starting line-up but there was no place for the visitors' striker Gonzalo Higuain against his summer suitors.

The former Real Madrid man, who was targeted by Wenger before opting to move to Italy, failed to recover from a thigh problem.
