Thank you for joining this historic movement for a 100% clean future. Now encourage all your friends and family to sign so we can reach our target of 3 million signatures and deliver it to world leaders on September 21! Forward them the email below and share the link on Facebook!

With hope,
The Avaaz team

Dear friends,

It's the biggest threat humanity is facing, and we need the biggest petition ever to meet it.

Sorry for the language, but one top scientist just warned that we are all "f*cked" if global warming releases gigantic amounts of methane gas (25 times worse than carbon dioxide) from where its currently safely frozen into the arctic tundra. And that's just one catastrophic scenario we're facing. This is not alarmism, it's science.

The UN knows this, and is about to bring world leaders to New York for an emergency summit, but these leaders are wrapped up in their political jobs. It's not that they wouldn't want to save the world - who wouldn't? It's just that we human beings are strange creatures - saving ourselves by shifting our economies to 100% clean energy is a big change, and we don't make big changes unless we feel a big push to do it.

So this petition needs to be the "everybody" petition. All of us - because all our futures are at stake - need to make it clear that it's time to act, time to move. From Brazilians to Burmese, artists to bankers, grandmothers to grandchildren, we need one *massive* chorus to land at this UN summit. The UN Secretary General will read out our messages and the number of signers to world leaders at his meeting. Sign, forward this email to everyone, and let's make it the biggest petition they've ever heard:

Whether it's the 'arctic methane bomb' or the rapid acidification of our oceans, global warming is taking us headlong into disaster. We *can* stop it, and build a beautiful new clean and green world for our children, but something needs to shake our leaders out of lethargy.

On September 21, we'll take to the streets in the largest climate mobilization in history. Already hundreds of events are organized and hundreds of thousands of people signed up. But the events are designed to deliver a petition. Let's make it the largest petition ever.
This isn't a petition from just Avaaz. We've designed a system so anyone can start a branch of it, and put numbers together. And in addition to all of us, we'll get everyone from celebrities to politicians to CEOs to sign it too. We can only solve climate change by coming together, and a simple call for a safe planet, a sustainable future, and 100% clean energy is where we can all meet.

We're all different. We're activists, cynics, happy go lucky, depressed, just getting by, or riding high. But whoever and wherever we are, climate change threatens everything we love,  and brings all of us together. Let's come together in these few words:

This petition isn't just for the 21 of September. The UN summit is designed to get leaders in gear to prepare for a crucial summit in Paris 18 months from now, where they will attempt to hammer out a deal to save the world. So we'll keep building this call for years to come, as the rallying cry we need to build a movement to save the world.

With hope,
Danny, Lisa, Judy, Ricken, Alex, Iain, and the rest of the Avaaz team
